Hello all,
I have not visited here for long time. Just say hello to all of you guys.
I have generated a sitemap and uploaded to google. However there are serveral ways the sitemap could be configured, I am wondering what are the significance of them are. They are:
1. The order of URL. A sitemap could contains thousands of URLs, does the order of the URL in the sitemap has any significance? Will the first URL treated more importantly than the last one?
2. The priority. Each URL is assigned a priority between 0 and 1. Is there a general formula to use to set a certain percentage of the URLs to priority 1.0, 0.9, 0.8, etc?
3. What you would assign the priority to a link page?
4. If you have a sitemap, will google only index those URLs you included in the sitemap or googlebot may also crawl other pages?
5. does other search engine such as yahoo, msn, etc. also use the sitemap?
