Is it smart to lock your domain to help preventing someonefrom stealing your domain name?

Some hosting companies sell a service named domain locking. Is that a worth while cause?

It can be a worthwhile cause, but you should have a look around. Domain locking is something that should come with your service. How much are they charging for it?

They want $15 bucks or so for the year.

Its not the hosting company which sells this service but the domain name company! If they are selling this service go away from them ( GKG.net tried to sell it to me , so I am in process of moving all my domains away from them to go daddy) and move to someone who gives it free ( like godaddy.com )

Anyway , Its always a good Idea To lock your domains so that no incident of fraud ( remember sex.com fraud ? ) takes place with you as transfer requests for locked domains automatically get declined ( IMHO ).
