View Full Version : PR - Whats the deal?

Has anyone else seen websites that have PR on their index page but not passing to their lower levels, I know of a site that has been the same for about 6 months, has had the pr for quite a while (over 3-4 months) and has pr 0's for the lower levels.. now things that I've checked for are:

can google see the lower levels? I ran it through a few spider simulators and yep google can see them. Theres no javascript for the links going to the lower level pages and there has never been any pr selling going on.

I know that google can drop pages if they're not updated for quite a while but are they taking pr away from pages that haven't been updated in a long time? It would make a bit of sense to me that they would slowly loose pr as they get older. Anyway just a thought. I've also see that dmoz listings seem like they have been around for a while but have no pr at all, there will be a PR 7 linking to a bunch of pr 6 pages and then some of the pages on that pr 6 page will have pr and some won't. The thing that bugs me a bit is that a few of the pages that don't have the PR, have more than 35 listings on them suggesting that they have been around for quite a while. Anyway just some random thoughts.

Same observations here, I have been getting a lot of requests for links from sites that have very descent PRs on the home page PR5+, but zilch on the link pages. All these pages have enough links on them to suggest they were not placed there yesterday. I have checked into dynamic links, robots exclusion tricks. The pages are in Google’s index .

The only conclusion I can come up with is, the last PR update was sometime in January(correct me if I am wrong) and just like our forum home page that is still PR0 because we have uploaded it after the last update, some of the other sites are in the same boat.

Yup I hope nothing's up with this update, I'm starting to get a little more than nervous. I hope this has nothing to do with the fact that google doesn't own "PR" and that this isn't the first sign that they are going to have to stop using it.. oh how that would suck.

Thats not it at all SEO Kid its just google is taking their time working on the actual ranking algo and not to worried about giving us our little Green bar fix, it will come with time. At least thats what Google Guy Said

Last deepcrawl was on Feb-05, so the last PR update was 2-4 days after this.
If I remember well, SEO-GUY mentionned that it takes 2 updates sometimes before you get the visual BACKLINKS...
We just had a deepcrawl (ended yesturday for me), so chances are we should see the PR update sometimes this week-end.
