My Site is http://www.beaglesecrets.com.

My main keyword is beagles. I am ranked well for beagle puppies, beagle puppy, beagle puppy training, etc. The site is PR5.

I have been concentrating on getting links from other sites. Most of my links are 1 way. When I do allinanchor, allintext, allintitle searches I am #4 for beagles. However, I am ranked #15 when an actual search for beagles is done. This leads me to believe it is my onpage/onsite work that is letting me down-is that correct?

What can I do to break into the top 10?

I have a new layout being worked on now that will give my site some more pages ie FAQ, Contact, About US, etc. And I think that will help because I can link back from all those pages to the home page with beagles as the anchor text.

What suggestions do you have?

Thanks
Jon

You are doing well.

I just had a look at some of your backlinks and most are from unrelated sites (ie: CD sites)

From those related you need more of "beagles" in the anchor text

so:

a) go for themed paged/ related sites
b) put in beagles (or beagles guide etc) as anchor

You should climb then

Hi,
I would try to make some more pages with that site if you can.
If you check the backlinks of my site and weed out my internal pages and non pet sites, you should find about 10 related sites you could exchange links with. http://www.active-pet-beds.com
Make sure you get Beagles in the text of the link and mix it up a little.
Most of them are one way links.

Also if you're not already, try and get a listing in DMOZ.
