with sugar on top?

My site can be found down there in my signature block. or here (http://www.psychicnoradevan.com/) I have been doing my best to optimize it but it's been somewhat tricky, knowing very little about it up until just a few weeks ago, and facing spammy competitors with sometimes less than scrupulous methods of getting noticed, it feels like an uphill battle.

Anyways so far here is what I have done:

-Changed my title to reflect keywords I am going for, psychic readings
-Tried to get some good keyword density in the text, bold, alt image, title on links etc. can't bring myself to work in some headers, they always look so weird  but I will work on that.
- Worked on getting some backlinks, which is pretty impossible in this industry, they all want reciprocal and I end up linking to a bunch of crappy sites in the process. I'm listed on a few directories but nothing to write home about.
- Content Content Content!!! That's my bread and butter, especially in comparison to other profesisional readers' sites, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference yet. It's a bit depressing because it seems pointless pouring all this energy into stuff if nobody ever sees it.

My site has been up since March and I was finished "perfecting" it and submitting it in early May, I am up to a PR 4, but still such a little teeny fish in a great big pond. It looks like even the biggest Psychic sites can't manage to squeak past 6, so I am guessing my keywords are too competetive maybe? I like a challenge... but one I can do! lol

Also if anyone has any comments on the way it is set up... is it too higgeldy piggeldy? I put everything in popup windows so the visitor would stay on the index page, but I am questioning that logic because as there is more stuff it seems unorganized...

Any ideas?

*addendum - I think I managed to pull off the table trick thingy. so scary....

I would definetely recommend getting rid of those popups and making them just goto regular pages. You will have a much better success rate since many bots have a hard time following Javascript. My biggest word of advice is to simply create lots and lots of content that is useful to your visitors. Search engines will eat that up.

Nora, a couple of comments:
I'd link back home to your domain instead of index.html
Move page keywords in front of your name in the title
Maybe dump about half of those meta's (revisit, Designer, author, Expires...)
Unload the spammy alt attributes (3.gif, 4a.gif etc)
All the astology signs go to the same page so it's not gonna boost your chances for those much

Personally that class="internal" bugs the %$^& out of me as I have to move my mouse off the table to get rid of the description. (but you probably knew that already.. smiley here... sorry, but couldn't resist)

Overall though a good start. Get some links with targeted anchor text and...
