They're not bad actually.... It takes time for them to show up as strong backlinks though; but I'm sure they will.

Yep, article submission is a good technique. But it takes time to give result & also it is important to submit informative posts.

Article submission is more regarded as a branding exercise and credibility rather than expecting it as great link building strategy, also make sure the article sites should have good PR and good reader base where usually you like to submit articles.
