Hi Guys what you think about Dmoz directory? can i submit my site in this directory, i have already submit my one site details, but i cant get any response can i again submit my details.
I will not suggest you to do again if it was a perfect category for your website. DMOZ rule from SEO is that only submit your website in right category and WAIT WAIT WAIT. Nothing else we will do for DMOZ.

It can take a long time to get into DMOZ. THe thing with DMOZ is that it is completely human edited, so it can take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years to get into DMOZ, depending how big of a catagory you submitted your site to. Dont worry about submitting again, you submitted once. I have heard that if you re submit to DMOZ you may get placed at the back of the line again.

One other minor note. If you are rejected, there is no notification or way to find out. Additionally, if there is no editor assigned, it is possible, dependent upon category, that your site will never get reviewed.
Do not despair though, because you have to remember that DMOZ is nothing but a directory. If accepted, you will have a backlink from a directory. The most respected directory, yes, but the bottomline is that DMOZ is just another backlink. Apply and forget about it.

DMOZ is really of little importance IMO.

Probably just best to submit once and then don't worry about it. I have seen some people on the dmoz forums inquiring about the status of their listing 2 years after submitting with no success. It is just another directory and possibly the editor may be in the same business as you and may not be in any real hurry to help promote your site.

....well that may be so, however, after 11 months working my tushie off on my site, I had hoped for a listing. I am baffled as to why it has not been included, and google specifically mentions submitting your sitie to Yahoo! and DMOZ directories in the Webmaster Guide, so you know - pleb that I am - if that makes them happy ......

Well if Dmoz is of less imporatance then why people are running after it and why does it have a high PR and why does it get huge traffic.

I have seen many websites being listed on DMOZ and yet having a weak google ranking. It's a directory after all and cannot replace your other link building strategies.

If you rest on the fact that DMOZ by no means is about helping people promote their sites, but about building a comprehensive database of thoroughly categorized hand-picked internet resources (for whatever purpose it may be used now or later on) you'll see that you have no right to DEMAND the inclusion of your site from editors. Just take it easy and dont get frustrated :)
....oops i've just realized that the above qouted post is from last month. :D
