What a great forum category. If anyone has an opportunity please offer me any advice you have.

http://www.eisenbachconsulting.com

I and a friend have done quite a bit of SEO, in my opinion, but Google seems to eb taking their time. The keywords I am targeting are this, in order of priority:

Texas electric Companies
Texas electric Providers
Texas electric Company
Texas electric Provider
Texas electricity Providers
Texas electricity Companies
Texas electricity

and more...but I won't go on

So far we have gotten several backlinks, but so far google is only seeing seven of them. I've got #1 for texas electric providers and #6 for texas electric companies on yahoo. It's not a very competitive term, so I had hoped to do well in google a little sooner. I'm in the 20's still in google. We have optimized titles and done a small site map. We've made some of the more important words larger fonts, thinking that might help.

I wish I had a more specific question, but really I'd just like to improve PR and get #1 for all my keywords!

Also, I'm interested in any design ideas anyone might have. Thank you so much!

A quick look: It looks to me as if some attention should be paid to titles. You have only one possible keyword combination in each title and then many times they're poorly represented on the page. Examples... Company name on two main pages, Home page "texas electric providers" title, found twice on page and not at the end. You're using font tags to highlight text instead of H1-3's Ex. <font size="4">

Your text links could include keywords, you have one page with some unreadable anchor text. The link below would provide good insight.

nice looking site

in terms of e-commerce and enquiries I noticed you had email all over your site - no one likes to email people because it launches your email program - what a pain.

But you have actually designed a nice form.........and called it email

Just call it a contact us page and let it be at that and don't call it email

Also state when you will reply to queries rather than ASAP

Have you thought about the "live help" button type operations - becuase I should think you'll want to snag your enquiriers there and then

Here's another thought - you need email addresses - how about writing a guide on saving costs with every provider you have listed - and how easy it is - no pain, once invoice (what ever all the benefits are) - of course you've probably got these on your site somewhere as well. Anyways, the ebook you only let people download once they provide an email address - an easy way to collect. (see my example at www.teneric.co.uk/bptemplate.html)

(oh, you have a presentation for free on the home - don't give it away for free - get the email address, and then give it away for free - these are all your new potential customers :D

Sorry for the rambling - it's been a long week :useforce:

Dilligaf:

I'm going to get to work on titles right away. I have no idea what H1-3's are. I'll have to google it later. I will also have to go through that Tutor. RTFM, right?

leeds1:

I understand the idea of getting email addresses. I just know that when a website forces me to give them information before I learn what they are offering, I just skip it. I'd rather potential customers know how we can help them than them give me their e-mail so that I can spam them.

I like your suggestion on removing e-mail and just directing everyone to the "contact us" form. I'll do that.

Live support would not work for us, but I am going to be more specific as to when we will respond.

Too bad it takes a lifetime for changes to show up for google. Isn't the web supposed to be real time? In my dreams.

Abbynormal: The H tags are covered in the "optimize visible text" section of the tutorial. When you get there give a shout and we'll give you a hand modifying their appearance with CSS (they can be rather unsightly otherwise)

"RTFM, right?" Yea, RTFM!
