Well if you just started SEOing your website it may take up to more than a few days before you would notice any changes anyway. If you follow many of the guidelines in this forum I would recommend making the changes and then being patient. Much of SEO in my opinion is common sense stuff.
It also wouldn't hurt to get inbound links to your website from related websites for the term "nextel ringtones"
I am just curious, where are you getting all your traffic to have already 30,000 members and 75,000 page impressions per day?

Hello,
Thanks for responding.
I wrote a application called Ringtone Factory. It takes any mp3 or wav and converts, normalizes and crops the sound file to work for your nextel phone.
Also on the website I have a wallpaper converter that takes any image and spits back out the correct format for nextel phones. It also archives the image (if the user selects the option) and adds it to the database.
You can check my webalizer stats here http://www.nextpimp.com/stats
I can only seem to keep about 5 days of log at a time as webalizer chokes on it after it gets to big. I will implement a rotation thing soon...

As of today (less then 1 week after following the seo guide) I am ranked #4 on MSN for the keyword "Free Nextel Ringtones" and #12 for "Nextel Ringtones"
I guess I did pretty good for my first seo run... Still tweaking though. I am in the process of making a site map and also making a "last searches" option so the search engine will have a hard link to more cached content... any thoughts on that?

Speaking of ring tones, if you do a Google search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=hulkmobile&btnG=Google+Search) for hulkmobile (http://www.komar.org/hulk/) you'll see I'm right behind the hulkmobile.com Hulk Ring tone site - hulkmobile vs. hulkmobile - get it?!? ;-)
Kinda ironic/funny - I'll probably never pass 'em since the keyword is in their domainname.

You got me thinking and I have decided to see if this key words in the domain thing makes much of a difference....

hulkster - U can pass them with many anchor-text BL, IMHO the presence of the keyword in the URL is significant but often overrated.

I actually had a forum once but that was back when the site was hosted on a shared enviornment p4 1.8ghz w/1g ram.
Now I have my own colocated dedicated that is much much more enterprise level so I may try VB again... (I was actually running phpbb2 before)
Do you know if VB has any integration with postnuke?
with over 140,000 registered users i really dont want to make them register a 2nd time for VB.

Does anyone have the iDEN Update Software Application installer? This is not available through Motorola anymore. So now my usb cable and midi files are useless.
Shoemoney
09-22-2004, 05:26 PM
Hi-
Motorola has never offered a FREE sotware application installer that would load midi files...
are you talking about webjal?
You can download it here http://www.deptford-mobile.com/Inimical/Utilities/webjal_r010103.exe
but its worthless unless you are either a motorola developer or run a webjal authentication server on your local network

Hello- My first attempt to write a good guide to stiffle some faqs.
How to load Ring Tones (http://www.nextpimp.com/nextel-ringtones.php) and Wallpapers (http://www.nextpimp.com/wallpaper-archive.php) to Nextel phones.
By Mike Lowery of Nextpimp.com (http://nextpimp.com)
Nextel phones, as of the writing of this document are not capable of receiving OTA (over the air) transfers of ringtones, wallpapers, or java apps from any source other then Nextel approved hardcoded websites. (http://www.nextel.com/services/javaapps/index.shtml?id4=shop_link4;ringtones)
What this means to you is you have 2 options to load these items to your phone.
1 - Purchase from Nextel. (http://www.nextel.com/services/javaapps/index.shtml?id4=shop_link4;ringtones). This is the solution for 99% of you people out there. Trust me. Just buy your ringers, wallpapers, and java apps from Nextel.
2 – Buy a Data Cable (http://search.ebay.com/nextel-data-cable_W0QQsokeywordredirectZ1QQfromZR8) and learn how to use it. This way will require some technical expertise. How do you know if you have enough technical expertise to try? Ask yourself these simple questions.
a) What operating system do I have on my computer (OS) (http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&c2coff=1&edition=us&q=%22what+is+a+operating+system%22) ?
b) What is my access level on the operating system? (http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&c2coff=1&edition=us&q=windows+access+levels)
c) What is a hosts file? (http://accs-net.com/hosts/how_to_use_hosts.html)
d) What is usb? (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&q=what+is+usb) (if you have a usb cable)
e) What are COM Ports? (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/q123/9/92.asp&NoWebContent=1) (if you have a serial cable)
If any of the questions above are leaving you with a blank then you need to Educate yourself (http://google.com) on these terms or pay your 2$ per from Nextel (http://www.nextel.com/services/javaapps/index.shtml?id4=shop_link4;ringtones). I can’t stress how important this is for you to have the basic knowledge above. If you purchase or download a program that lets you load ringtones and you need help you are only going to be that much more frustrated if you do not know what the above items do.
Moving on-
Ok so you have the technical ability and are ready to try loading ringtones and wallpapers to your Nextel phone?
Items Needed -
Hardware - First you need a data cable. In my humble opinion you should only get a Serial Data Cable (http://search.ebay.com/nextel-serial-data-cable_W0QQsojsZ1QQfromZR40) . You will pay more for a serial cable but they are worth it. Get a USB Data Cable (http://search.ebay.com/usb-data-cable_W0QQsojsZ1QQfromZR40) if you want.
Software -Next you need a program called Webjal (http://www.deptford-mobile.com/Inimical/Utilities/webjal_r010103.exe) . This is the guts of it all. Webjal (http://www.deptford-mobile.com/Inimical/Utilities/webjal_r010103.exe) is the only legit software that works and it is made by Motorola. As of the writing of this document the current version of Webjal is 103 (http://www.deptford-mobile.com/Inimical/Utilities/webjal_r010103.exe) You will also need to get proper usb drivers if you have the usb cable.
Authentication – When webjal starts up it asks you for a username and password. Unless you are a webjal developer and have a login from Motorola you will not have this. So basically in order to get webjal to authenticate you have to either create your own server, get access to someone elses server for free, purchase access to someone elses server or purchase a program that takes care of it. If you are familiar with Apache and php then you may want to take a crack at setting up your own server. If you are not a apache guru then the safe route is to purchase software that will do some emulation of the moto server.
The 2 safe routes are the Nextpimp Media Center (http://www.nextpimp.com/mediacenter.php) from nextpimp.com, you can purchase streams GUARENTEED to work from nextelnoob.com (http://nextelnoob.com), or you can buy a user/pass from teknidude.com (http://www.teknidude.com/wap/webjal.html) .
*******************WARNING************************
There are patches floating around the net that will redirect your streams to someones server but keep in mind this could be used for evil. Don’t be so eager to click on every registry patch you see floating around. Open it up and understand what its going to do to your registry before blindly giving it free reign. I am not saying every patch is evil, I am just saying be careful.
*******************END WARNING*********************
99% of problems people have with usb cables are due to driver issues. Please make sure you have This driver for USB (http://idenphones.motorola.com/idenSupport/common/downloads/USBInstallation.exe)
And that’s how it works

olà :D
I saw shoemoneys post here as i checked his backlinks ^^
I'm new to internet marketing ESPECIALLY to seo, any tips for me that could help me, in the now saturated ringtone market, rank with my site:
motorola nextel ringtones (http://corner-bakery.com)
(Sorry for the keywordlink, i thought its an start^^)
Ok, link building is one big factor as i know trough reading abakus internet marketing, you know that forum for sure, but what else can i do? I'm german so i have no real clue of the us market, what doesnt make my task any easier =)

SEO's easy, you need to build links, add relevant content and wait. Second time I've posted this link today:

Thx =)
What i thought of is maybe an actual example based on the html code of my site, or do you think that onpage is not the most important thing?
So if i try to link my site about ringtones from other sites about ringtones, nextel, verizon and so on, then i rank after a while automatically?
Well yes you will rank in time, but you've picked a competitive and somewhat saturated market, and those people who have a head start on you aren't standing still either. It doesn't mean you should give up with the existing site, but I'd look for a niche, or possibly even another market to learn the basics.
Yes of course on page factors are important, but as you suggest your backlink campaign will be crucial!

i like the hover .. but i think you should check your site using browsercam.com to see if its fits all the resolutions ... in 1280x800 it is more to left because it is not aligned on the center
