Is this a good idea? Will this cause any problems with my site like picking up too many links at once?

The thing is the 900 PR4 links. They might raise a flag. You know... the sandbox thing...

Yes that was my concern! I want to do it but can't afford to get sandboxed.

from what I have seen the sandbox thingie is on links and not on domains. your old links do not get degraded in value because you have new links.

on the web ideas spread in waves. it is perfectly normal to have a huge inrush of links
