Hey guys, I have to come up with a 30 question quiz reguarding SEO, specifically google related questions. I have been searching for a good quiz but I really can't find one. We are looking to hire someone who really knows SEO and we don't want to hire just a wanna be. Does anyone know of a good SEO quiz that mainly focuses on google? Or last resort, a general, well written SEO quiz?

Thanks!
Tony

Tony,

why don't you just start asking about the algo? Ask them what the latest implementation of the google algo is, and look for them to mention things like:
40% Hilltop integrated for expert ranking (Relevance Score)
40% PageRank- Now topical pagerank based on Markov Chains
20% LocalScore- which is the on-page content
Usually only real SEO's even know what those things are.

Hope that helps a little

Heh, anyone who makes claims to know exactly how the Google ranking algo works - especially with regards to prior patents - is in real danger of putting their head on a heavy wooden block. :)

Issues such as Hilltop and LocalRank (&TSPR, etc) are concerns - but it is always unclear what is being practised at any one time. Those patents provide things to watch out for, in terms of optimising for clients, but Google simply changes so much to be too certain of anything.

I think the main focus is really results, because any SEO can answer a few simple questions but can they perform in the real world of the net! Can they get you to the top and optimize for real terms people are looking for your product. Do those words convert to sales or do they just convert to readers

I think the main questions are:

1) Show a few Samples of Sites Worked

2) What Keywords are those sites optimized for?

3) What are the rankings in the 3 Major Engines for these sites?

4) How long has he or she been optimizing for these sites
