Hi, I really like the way we currently list products (example - Quad Speed Skates (http://www.lowpriceskates.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=15)), but I was thinking that if I changed the names of each product to incorporate more keywords it would help in the search engine rankings.
For example, we have a skate we're currently calling "Shaker".
Would it help if I called it "Shaker Quad Speed Skates"?
I think that is less attractive looking on the page, so I bolded the main word, Shaker, and put a break after it, in the same link.
Here's what the link looks like:
<a class="sitewidelinks" href="index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&amp;ProdID=17"><b>Shaker</b><br>Quad Speed Skates</a>
Will Google still recognise that was "Shaker Quad Speed Skates, and give it the benefit of having the keywords there?

Is changing them a good idea at all?
I figure that if the Quad Speed Skates page has products that all say that, that page would come up higher in Google for the search "quad speed skates".
What do you think?
Thanks a lot!!!

hhm it depends on wether or not you want to use quad speed skated for every product, but if each product had a differe extra set of keywords it could help in someways, but then it could also dilute your original keywords.

Well, all of the skates in that category would be "Quad Speed Skates", and the ones in another category would be "Inline Speed Skates", or "Quad Roller Skates", etc...
Do you think it's not worth the trouble?

Honestly I think it is something you'll have to test to be sure. I really don't want to say yes and then see your rankings drop because of it. Why not test it on one or two products first to see if the rankings improve or drop. Just keep and eye on the cached version of the page and the page's rankings. Do you have the google toolbar? As soon as google caches the new page, have a look at your rankings, if they've gone up, start adding.
