Hi there. Here is one of my little websites. The same as every site i design - excellent on every search engine apart from Google.

http://www.mediasurgery.co.uk

I know i need to build up the links but can someone give me a pointer on where i am going wrong. I know i also need to improve my keyword density aswell but i just dont get it why i am NOWHERE to be seen on Google! They must be penalising me somewhere.

Any advice ??

Johnee, i think you have more or less answered your own question. google seems to favour sites with lots of backlinks targetted at specific anchor text.

Sorry i dont fully understand on what you mean by anchor text?

Is that the text that would be in the link, linking to my site?

e.g <a href="..page.htm">website design scotland</a>

Johnee, anchor text is the visible hyperlinked text on the page. Your anchor text needs to have the keywords your targetting in (I try to upto 4-5 keywords during link exchanges and my main keyword used about 60% of the time). This can make big difference in the final ranking of your site pages. I believe all search engines that matter google, yahoo etc, give significant weight to the anchor text on your pages. In fact Google has a special operator: ‘allinanchor:keyword', which picks up text only from within the anchor text of indexed pages.

I think you might want to check these following lines in your code.

# Can this - <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
# OK <html>
# OK <head>
# Concentract on key words - <title>WebSite Design Services - Aberdeen North East Scotland</title>
# Can this - <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"
# Again concentrate on key words - <meta name="keywords" content="Website web site design Designers Aberdeen North East Scotland Stonehaven Inverness Graphic Design">
# Concentrate on keywords - <meta name="description" content="Based in Aberdeen North East Scotland. We provide quality affordable website web site design and other web services such as Web site Hosting and Serch Engine Optimization">

I think your trying to fry to many fish in one pan. If you consolidate your keywords in those fields I think you will have better results across the board.

yeah seperate your keywords using commas, repeat the keywords through your site perhaps using them as backlink text etc; have more h1..h3 titles (with appropriate keywords) splitting up the page to make it look more professional and SE friendly...
the longer titles, headings etc are the less prominent so short and sweet can be better like title: web design aberdeen .... that alone can give u a decent shift...

blah blah good luck geezer 8-|
