Figured I'd share this with you guys, might help.
Had a surgical on the site lately. All was great except having to modify tons of pages. As you do this you become like a robot... copy, paste, copy, paste...
I later check my logs and stuff. My error log had a bunch of 404s. Like 10 users per day got to pages that generated 404. When looking further, I notice that whatever pages were doing it were fine for me. I wasn't freaked out because it's like a handfull of users on busy pages, so it's user related. The error was the background image 'image.gif'... not being found.
I made myself a little app. to format my logs and looked for a patern. They were all MAC users with POWERPC in the browser ID. MAC's have a problem with CSS background images and generate these 404... so don't bust your head checking your code before checking the browser ID... lol
