View Full Version : What's the best (and fairest all round) way to do this?

Hi there.

I've had what i think is a great offer for a link exchange from a UK gambling blog. As i'm new to all of this, i just want to work out what is the best, and fairest form of exchange for all parties.

I have 2 sites PR2 and PR0. They are both very new (PR0 has been up for a week or two). I'm gutted i didn't get to a PR4 on the last update, as i'd been working very hard on link exchanges - but that's another thread.

The site has about 500 pages that i can tell, and has a homepage PR of 6. He has very kindly offered me a link to 1 of my sites on every page of his site, in exchange for a link on every page of both of my sites! I'm sure this is a great deal, and i feel a bit bad for asking the qestion here, but as i'm new to all this i think its prudent to ask the question first.

So, is this a good deal, and should i go for it?

Secondly, i have a third site which i'm working on that i was supposed to upload a few days ago. I've decided it needs more work, and am holding off for a week or 2 now. It's a big step up for me in proffessional site design, and looks a million times better that my first sites.

I was thinking that perhaps it might be better to offer side wide unreciprocated links on my first 2 sites, and get loads of links which are unreciprocated on my new site. Possibly, i'll have to politley ask if i can make a few tweaks to the anchor text along the way if needed as i see how the new site pans out.

So my final question. Would this way be better? I fear i may lose a hell of a lot on my other sites, so i'm really confused! It's more complex than it looks, with all this link exchange stuff!

Anyway, thanks for any help and replies. It will be much appreciated, and will help in making my mind up.

Thanks again

Harvey

ps - Thanks to Seo Guy for taking me out of the dog house. It wont happen again... :D

That doesn't sound too bad to me...

How many pages are there on your site? If he has 500, all pointing to you, that can't be a bad thing.

Personally, that's how I would do it. I have stopped doing the traditional 2 site link exchanges now...

I would jump at the chance. Even if it's just for the PR boost (I don't think that the PR makes a huge difference, but it is nice to see that Green Bar Go up ; )

Yep, you've found a good deal I would say.

Thanks SE Basic. I'll go for it... ;)

I'll get the unreciprocated links for my new site (as long as he kindly agrees!). I just hope it won't kill my existing 2 sites!

Why Should it?

The sites are related, so it won't do any harm to be linking out to them.

If anything it will do those sites some good. There is nothing wrong with outbound linking as long as it is to a related site (IMO anyway).

Let me know how it goes...

I would go for it also especially if his site is a PR6. Your new site will likely get a PR5. and you can use that to link to your other 2 sites.
