Hey guys (& girls :p )

I have my newest site about 98% done.

So far here is what is different:

HTML & CSS structure is more correctly used (it's my understanding that it makes a difference)

Almost ALL formatting is external (CSS)

Each page has a different title (mistake from my last site)

All images are named with KWs (and have KW alt text)

Some internal links within my text (is it called anchor text?) and I plan to add many more.

I have a few home page text links-a PR5 (my other site) a PR 1 and a number of PR 0 (still not many though) I'm using what you see in my sig here. Let me know if that is what I should be using or if you would modify it.

Here are my questions:

KWs-how are they? I seem to get a different answer from everyone. I would have to say I trust the people here more than anywhere so maybe someone can answer that.

I plan to use a members link building program here-is 1500 links/month good or should I shoot higher?

Will my phpBB show up in the SERPs? I know some do but I don't know if they have been modified. If not what do I have to do (how much would it cost) to make it happen? (I would be willing to trade product for service :D )

Ok, not directly SEO-but how the hell do I get people to post on a forum with minimal posts? It seems like no one is willing to post on a new forum so short of spamming which I refuse to do, how do I get people on the forum?

Something that I want to do to (hopefully) increase traffic is to add a "featured artist" type of thing on my site-a little flash jobber that will play new/emerging artists music. It's something that will help both me and them I think. What do you all think of this? If any artists want to participate PM me.

Alright, let me know what to change :D

Well it's the first website that I've seen that I can't find anything to critisise on! :o

Seriously, it's a really well designed website, easy on the eyes, navigation is good, good clean crisp look about it. Well done!

The only thing I will say is that you need content - that's the only thing that you are missing at the moment.

jlknauff: On the key phrase end of things consider 144163 man health, 72580 man hair style, 25417 gift for man, 18823 man fitness, 135085 skin care, 14860 natural skin care, 11304 dry skin and 10418 skin condition.
These numbers are from Overture PPC that Yahoo and MSN use. Double them to count in Google. Compare them with your keywords using the Search Term Suggestion Tool (http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/) to make sure you are targeting the right keywords.
Also check the average PR and Backlinks using the McDar Keyword Analysis Tool (http://www.mcdar.net/KeywordTool/keywordtool.asp) for the keywords you plan on targeting. There is no use targeting a keyword that is out of your reach.

Interesting. That's the same kind of results (KWs) that I was getting from some of the other tools I tried. Does it seem odd to anyone else that more people would search for something like "man skin care" instead of "mens skin care"? I guess it's not really a surprise since no one really uses proper English or grammer anymore anyway

Darren, thanks for the compliments :D Still working on the content. If anyone would like to suggest an article or something let me know.

jlknauff: Well that is Overture's stemming algorithm. I guess I need to note that when I post keyword searches off Overture. Do a search on Overture's Search Term Suggestion Tool (http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/) or on 123 Promotions Overture Keyword Tool (http://www.123promotion.co.uk/ppc/index.php) for "men" and you will see there are no occurrences of "men" but only "man".
With 123 Promotion's new beta Overture Keyword Tool (http://www.123promotion.co.uk/ppc/beta.php) you can now search against both Overture's and Wordtrackers database of searches.
Digitalpoint has had there Free Keyword Suggestion Tool (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/) that searches both these databases for some time now.
When you search Wordtrackers database for "hair style" you get both "mens hair styles" and "men's hair styles".
I use Wordtrackers percentages, apply them to Overture's data and then double Overture's numbers to include Google searches and that gives me an good estimation of how many times that keyword is searched on Google/Yahoo/MSN.
There can be a wide range of differences between stats gotten from PPC campaigns on Google and the numbers that Overture reports.
I have found that Google PPC reports any where from 50% to 300% of what Overture shows.
Using the reported stats showing the ratio of the search engine market between the two main camps, Goggle and Yahoo/MSN, and which some limited experience in Google's PPC numbers I think that doubleing Overtures numbers is conservative.
Hrmm, perhaps I will write an article on Overtures stemming.
