Before you throw a rock at me because i'm talking about Alexa, read first what i'm trying to do. :shoot:

I have two domains, or better, a domain and a subdomain. My current domain is www.sprinttotal.com and my subdomain is www.sprinttotal.co.pt.

The subdomain was used some time, and it's from the same company that my direct competitor uses. The company is co.pt and has domains like xpto.co.pt, xpto.online.pt or xpto.lda.pt.

Now, if you check the Alexa co.pt detailed rankings (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?&range=3m&size=medium&compare_sites=&url=http://www.sprinttotal.com/#top) you will see that sprinttotal.com receives 8% of the traffic from co.pt and tuning.online.pt only receives 3%. This is nice for direct comparison, since my competitor is using Alexa to say 'hey, look how many visitors Alexa say I have' and i'm on the top of it.

Anyway, I would like to be "away" of the co.pt traffic rank, but Alexa still has me in the same boat... I have the domain www.sprinttotal.co.pt with a 301 to the new domain, but i'm using the same hosting account (same IP).

My question here is, would it work to be in a different IP from co.pt and have my own Alexa traffic rank details? What can I do else? I've already sent them 2 emails (the last one about 2 months ago) about this issue but no reply...

I really want to be out of the co.pt because it looks a little bad to me to be in the same boat as my direct competitor... :furious:

Thanks for your time reading this...

No answers, so i have changed the ip adress of the .co.pt and voilá... It works. Maybe also Yahoo! and Altavista will drop the old domain (that as a 301 for a long long time now).

Now just need to wait for the traffic ranking to go up... Alexa raking for sprinttotal.com (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?q=sprint+total&url=http://www.sprinttotal.com/)
