Hi all,
I am new and I need some help. I am pretty proficient at general search engine listings but I need some expertise help as my daughter needs a car, college tuition and I can't afford such but with some help from someone I might be able to get enough traffic to make enough from google adsense to help her.
We have many sites I have been working on to help with our income.
golfcarportal.com golfcourseportal.com and golfequipmentdirectory.com
Can any guru's please take a look at these sites and tell me what I need to do to increase the traffic? I know it is simple for many of you but I am just lost in all this confusion of do this and do that. I have tried to build a real honest network of golf sites but just can't seem to get the grasp on positioning. We can afford to pay for assistance (reasonably as our budget is tight)

golfcarportal:
Right off the bat just looking at your sites I would say your Ads by Google on golfcarportal.com stands out very nice but you have it hid at the bottom of your long page. Move it up to the top. Also on your other 2 sites you need to make your Ads by Google stand out better.
You may want to consider selling some links on your pages. There are a number of ways you can do this, link auctions and link consultants are a couple.
Your sites have alot of links on the home page. golfcarportal.com has over 150 links on the front page. If you want to sell links it is best of your pages only have 40 to 50 outbound links per page.
Having said that lets take a peek under the hood. Check out your websites with the Search Engine Optimizer (http://optimiser.123promotion.co.uk/) tool. This will show you the on-page factors that you need to look at.
If we look at golfcarportal.com it has a PR of 5.
The Search Term Suggestion Tool (http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/) shows that the key phrase you have targeted, "golf car", is getting 8,454 searches a month. Those numbers are from Overture PPC which is used by Yahoo and MSN so I would double those numbers to include Google. So targeting the keyword golf car which gets lets say 16,000 searches a month is ok.
Alexa Traffic Rank (http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=www.golfequipmentdirectory.com) shows you at 1,028,056 which is not very good.
Read Alexa Traffic Rank Heats Up (http://www.globalpromoter.com/seo-tools/search-engine-optimization-articles-detail.cfm/SearchEngineOptimizationArticle_5) to get a idea what your Alexa rating means.
If you check out McDar Keyword Analysis Tool (http://www.mcdar.net/KeywordTool/keywordtool.asp) you will see the average PR and Inbound links (Backlinks) to the sites that have the top 10 search engine results position (SERP) for the key phrase "golf car" is 5.5PR and 379 Backlinks.
Your site is showing 2680 Backlinks and a PR of 5 and you have position #3 for that keyword. So you are ok there.
Lets look a bit further and see if there are key phrases that are better than "golf car". We do this by searching the keyword "golf" with the Search Term Suggestion Tool and we find 74 search phrases that include golf that get more traffic than the one you have optimized your site for.
For example look at "golf cart", it is getting 72,362 visits according to Overture. Next look at golf cart with the McDar Keyword Analysis Tool to see if you have enough backlinks and PR to get first page SERP. The top 10 average for the key phrase "golf cart" is 5.7PR and 98 Backlinks.
Your site is showing 2680 Backlinks and a PR of 5.
Checking the key phrase "golf cart" on Google Rankings (http://www.googlerankings.com/index.php) you are not in position 22 which is the 3rd page.
By this we see you have targeted a term that only gets 8454 searches a month instead of targeting a term that gets 72,362.
When I say you have targeted golf car instead of golf cart I mean your site is optimized more for the keyword golf car instead of golf cart. Golf car is the first word in your title and you have made golf cart and golf carts secondary, golf cart is not in your h1/h2 tags, golf car is used 10 time in your text while golf cart is used 8 times. And the very worse is the fact that all your anchor text for your backlinks are golf car.
So I think we have found one of your main problems with golfcarportal.com site.
There are a number of recommendations I would have for this site also but its 2:22am.
