Lets discuss ..how many times we can add H1 tag?

H1 tag is very important in seo. we make a tree like h1 tag than h2 tag than so on .I think in any page h1 tag is inserted only one time if you inserted 2 times that not bad but more than 2 is bad but best only one time .

As the meaning of H1 is Heading 1. Use it as its meaning and u will definetly get benefit.

H1 should be used once a time.As it is the most important header tags..adding h1 for more than one time means you are degrading the importance of H1..

IT's usually a mistake to look at a top ranking site in a competitive market and conclude that it got there by on-site factors alone or because it used 4 <h1> tags (for example).

I do see sites ranking in Google with what look like grey hat "tricks" such as CSS hidden text behind images etc. but when I look at their backlinks I often conclude they're ranking in spite of these tricks and not because of them.

I can't find any real content on twospot, are you sure you have the right domain? What term does it rank for?

I would suggest to use H1 tag only once for every page. I agree with Mit and also adheres to the true meaning of the said tag. And besides, playing with google is a very risky one.

I also agree with Paz. There are lots of factors in optimizing a site and one cannot conclude that the site is ranked higher or in the top of SE's SERPs because the said site uses H1 tag more that once. Surely, the site had reached such status because of other factors such as fresh content, good keywords, good link building practice etc.

Ok I had a look and it is a site that is ranking #1 for that term!

Look at its backlinks though. It has about 90,000 backlinks in Yahoo, but more importantly it is picking up natural (and targeted) backlinks to internal pages.

These internal pages contain freebie items, such as PR and ranking tools, scripts, webstats, counters, free forum hosting etc. These are all excellent link bait and the few pages I looked at had between 10 to 200 natural links each.

I think that's closer to the answer as to why they are ranking well. :D
