For a site I manage. The site has been up roughly 45 days and getting into google is giving me a problem. Every now and again I pop up at like number 300 but that doesn't cut it.

So what do you think of my on page SEO?

I would get rid of the H1 tags that surround whole paragraphs. Google may consider that spam and penalize it. Header tags should surround short, header-type phrases (like Loose Diamonds, for example). Otherwise, the on-page optimization looked ok to me, although I didn't study it in minute detail. What you will need now is lots and lots of backlinks to your site, using your kw phrase (loose diamonds, i assume) as the anchor text. In other words, off-page optimization is what you need to really concentrate on.

Your problem isnt your onpage SEO as much as it is topic specific backlinks, sure you show 700+ backlinks but they are from COMPLETELY unrelated subjects and almost 95% of them are all from 2 sites (Both forums) you need to focus your effort on offpage and its quality not quantity, and removing those unrelated links from the footer wouldnt hurt either, what does diamond have to do with life insurance?

A good place to start is here http://www.seo-guy.com/seo-tutorial/backlinks-anchor-text.html and then of course you are welcome to post in the relevant link exchange forum http://www.seo-guy.com/forum/relevant-link-exchange-forum.html please read the rules before posting, and remember only RELEVANT links from now on.

We have quite a few members here in the jewelry / diamonds category so you should get some decent exchanges, I know for instance Irish Lady, Fathom, ummm nrlatsha just to name a few would be great partners for you
Good luck and don't sweat your onpage it is fine for now, concentrate on your allinanchor and link relationships first as you cant onpage your way to the top no matter what

well I run a few different forums so I added the links to them since it doesn't cost me anything and gives lots of links. Even if it is not relevant a link is still good just not as good.

and I think life insurance is somewhat relevant. You buy a diamond for a ring, means your getting married, which means you will probably be looking for life insurance soon also :) .

But yes I will take all of your words of advice and do what I can.. hehe

Thanks,
Rex

hmmm... someone should point these out to me rather than the other way around.

If you don't mind sharing your knowledge in diamonds, diamond retailing, selling, and other information at a forum http://www.jewelry-pearls.com - you'll get a fair number of links in return from jewelry related (non-competitive) sites.

If you contribute you have exclusive banner rights to diamond visitors, made moderator of a diamond forum (pearls is my industry segment and have others in semi-precious gems, and gold jewelry).

Additionally, you have a private forum exclusive to mods for SEOing of the specific websites.

I highly value knowledge sharing (it's better than cash) so seriously consider the offer.
