Hi. I have been searching for a web design template for my genealogy site. I have not been able to find one that is the right theme / style that looks professional. If anyone has come across one, or has made one. Could you please let me know.
I can't stand the look of my web site. And, I'm not very good with design.
I like the sites at Template Monster, but they seem too cold for what I'm selling. I'm looking to add a warm, fuzzy feel to the site.
Thank you.

Ahhhh good I am your official design angle. I am an expert with Web Design and Graphics Design.
Anyways I might have a few options for you:
I am a Template Monster Reseller (http://www.mi-websolutions.com/templates/) as I do not usally design templates I thought I was losing some sales for people who could not afford my services.
Custom Web Design - I could design you a site from scratch. (No templates involved)
This message is not for advertising my services - Only to give her a couple of options she can go with if she would like to have me design a site for her.
Anyone else have any other idea's for Melanie? Not sure how many members are Web Designers here so shoot your message if you have any idea's.

Hi wyrickj.
Well, I have been to Template Monster alot. There are many sites that I really like, but they aren't right for the site I have.
I'm looking for a template because it's much cheaper than hiring a web designer to do the whole site.
I did visit your web site but I couldn't find a portfolio of your work.

I am still working on the whole thing Melanie. Sorry for the inconvinance.
Here is the portfolio link - http://www.mi-websolutions.com/portfolio/portfolio_home.aspx - Still being updated
I am also working on currently a new directory / informational site related to webmaster, seo, hosting stuff - http://webmasterstuff.mi-websolutions.com witch will be in the portfolio real soon after I get it completed.
My site is in a jumble right now due to being a new redesigned dialup friendly site and I have been working on other projects.

Oh I was going to ask you what your budget was? You can PM me if you like on what you would spend on a designer. I can tell you that a lot of Template Monster templates are used on the internet and so you may find something exactly the same as another site. With a designer you get unique design. By no means am I conning you to buy my services but I am just telling you that I would not prefer a template as there's thousands of the same design.

The fact that it won't be unique doesn't bother me. I can make it my own by adding details and moving stuff around.
Another good thing about a template is that I can see what I'm buying.
With a designer you need to hope that they are good and understand what you need. The only way I'd work with a designer again is if they made the design first and offered to sell it to me. If I didn't like it I wouldn't want to have to buy it. I don't want to be obligated to buy something. I could work with them and tell them what I'm looking for.
Or, if they had a really great portfolio. There is this one designer who did a quote / review for me. He's really great. He understood completely what I was looking for. But, he cost several thousand dollars. Way too much for my budget right now.
I wish TM would post a way to contact the designers. I would love to actually have a request made.

You have a good point. My site is just currently for dialup users and Search Engines so they can spider it very easy. I am in the process of developing a whole flash site - complete with 3d, special f/x, etc.

Check out templata.com--- they are much cheaper than templatemonster and the quality of the templates are good. Plus their work is not saturated all over the web.

Im going to assume templata is your site cause the site I just landed on is not even close to a competition with template monster. I deleted the live link btw first post should never be a "hey check out this site" post, with a live link, it screams spam
