Hi all
I am trying to compete with a site in the uk
(am I allowed to post that?)
now then, I noticed (also on my site) that a chunk of text that says something like
blah blah KW2 blah blah KW1 20 more blah blahs [link KW1 KW2] brings up results
any tips on what they have done to get to #1
I have tried :
H1 tags
H2 tags
density
outbound links to authority sites
I have more backlinks from better sites than them so I guess it is my onpage
I did not have backlinks from my own site on the logo (like seo-guy does) so have added a few of those today.
clues?
thanks very much
leeds :)
PM me for my site!!!

Yes you are allowed and you should also put your site URL, so if someone want to have a look, for obvious things, give comments...
Not everyone will PM you for your URL (me for example...lol)

Sorry about that. I have 2 sites.
www.teneric.co.uk - mainly targeted "business plan" - I'm on page 2 for business plan, business plans, marketing plan, marketing plans.
Just wanted to get to the top! - I have just added http://www.mysite.com links from each page to the home page as suggested by MR SEO on another part of the forum.
Does allinanchor look at links INTO that page or links ON the page ?
Also have another site www.marketing-plan.co.uk that has "marketing plan" allinanchor at #2 but absolutely nowhere in google (although I have limited backlinks from other sites) - it used to come up but no more - I get all traffic from Yahoo.
[I'm talking about google.co.uk]
All help appreciated !
THANKS
Leeds

allinanchor: is a command that ranks the sites based on who has the most inbound links from external sources with that "exact" keyword phrase.
As for your second site if its ranking for allinanchor but not in the serps you need to fix your onpage + increase PR. PS you seem to have a broken image on your marketing site

SEO GUY - where you say external does that mean external to my site (ie otherdomain.com) or just external to that page (mysite.com/otherpage.html) ?

I have a PR of 5 on this site. I noticed the ranking drop after I added adsense from my first site. I also had links to my first site and included email addresses for my first site so it was obvious to google that the sites were owned by the same person.
I have now got rid of that (thanks for the image heads up - the image had a name of my first site so I changed the name but forgot to upload the new image ;) )
As for on page SEO, err, any pointers? I only had 425 words so I've added another 100 and some more related links within the website.
Any other clues
BTW - seo-guy - I have to say that this is a really GREAT resource that you and your team are providing for free - and you also know what you're doing.
Thanks for everything on this side of the pond.
regards
Leeds :)

allinanchor: is in regards to all IBL's whether from other pages on your site or external sources. Remember a page on your own site counts as a backlink the same as one from another domain.
As for your site's onpage if you would kindly post in the site reviews section along with a detailed request ie my kw's are this, im targeting the UK my URL is this and a brief summary of what you've done sofar myself or one of my staff would gladly make some suggestions for you, the stie reviews forum is at http://www.seo-guy.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=23
BTW thanks for appreciating it, we hope to attract many more quality members and posters such as yourself and grow our small community, if you have any webmaster friends by all means please encourage them to stop by I would love to see more participants here as it really helps us all out, the sharing of knowlege etc, I'll be honest I learned at least 50% of my SEO from small community minded forums such as this one and I continue to frequent as many as 20 still! A lot of reading to be sure, but the end result is reflected in my rankings and can in yours as well.
Looking forward to seeing that site review post and oh yeah there is a forum suggestion forum around here to and all members are encouraged to make suggestions on improvements they would like to see here, Im open to any ideas that will help people learn
Cheers
