View Full Version : Is Yahoo!'s link command accurate?

I was hoping to have some people weigh in on if they believe the Yahoo! link command is the most accurate out there.
We've all concluded the Google's link:http... shows fewer links than they are actually counting, so my question is
Who has got the most accurate showing of BL's? Yahoo!, MSN, Google or another tool I haven't come across yet?
Thanks in advance

I usually check marketleaps tool (marketleap.com) as it shows the bl's from several different places. I don't think any of them are really accurate, so best to check them all. There are other tools around that check various sources, but marketleap's is the one i always happen to remember.

Dazzlindonna,
Sweet. I've been using that tool over the past few days. It would be nice if they included Yahoo! in their BL results, but it's handy nonetheless. Thanks again.

Yahoo/AlltheWeb are the most accurate IMO.

Thanks for replying, I'm glad this thread exists, I don't have to start a new one. 8-|
Which is more accurate, link: or linkdomain:? I checked out mcdar's anaysis tool earlier and it said I had 0 BLs in Yahoo. It had a link to check, and it was using the linkdomain:
linkdomain.com:http://visualintensity.com - which of course does show 0.
I then removed domain and tried link:http://visualintensity.com and got 1,530.
I then tried linkdomain: again without the http:// and it gives me 1,640.

linkdomain:http://visualintensity.com
Wrong Syntax
link:http://visualintensity.com and got 1,530.
Correct Syntax, Shows Pages that link to this particular page(Here it is homepage)
linkdomain:visualintensity.com
Correct Syntax, Shows Pages that link to this whole site regardless of which page the links point to on your site ( Note: Sub domains are considered different sites ),

OK, I've got the syntax correct, but WHY is there such a difference between the two commands? What are they calculating differently exactly??

Read my Explanation again,
linkdomain: lists backlinks sitewide regardless of which page the link is pointing to on your site, link: only the page you are checking,
