I have always got by in the past using recip links!

Painstakingly getting others to house my links on their sites etc.

Now in the latest backlink update I have gone from 621 backlinks down to 3!

And from a ranking of # 1 and getting 12,000 unique visits a day I am now no-where!

God , Google doesn't help the small business at all!

Has anyone else found this?

Reciprocal linking will always be a benefit if the links are themed and chosen from just quality sites, I honestly think there is something else out there to cause such a dramatic drop in your links and serps. Perhaps interlinking to many of your own domains on the same IP? I dont know, either way its more then just a recip thing as there are millions of sites doing fine with recip links

Thanks SEO GUY - I did interlink a hell of a lot on the same IP - all of those got wiped out. I also cross linked site wide with a friend (diff IP) and neither of our sites are showing in our backlinks. Plus.......used bloomin linksmanager and it is not counting any of those turkeys!

Bye bye linksmanager if you ask me. If Google is going to discount Linksmanager and many recip links I feel it will be the time of the SEO like yourself who hires out one way links on your site! Now is the time to cash in BIG TIME SEO-GUY!

Lots of my links are reciprocal links. I did not suffer from this link, PR loss...
Obviously links.xxx or link.xxx pages don't show... like most.
I never had an agressive linking campain. I never had like 50 new links in a short perior of time.
So my links poped here and there over a long period of time and on related sites.
Lots of unrelated links, lots of new links in a short period of time... just think about it... they know the tricks too.

Thanks Jocelyn - I have had some joy with renaming my links pages from links.htm to resources.htm

At least they are showing up as a page on my site now for content purposes if nothing else

Another thing I found was that all of my link page titles were the same, so I changed these as well

My pages named links_keyword.xxx did not appear in my link partners backlink.
I only had one file to change and it was done before the last PR update.
The next update it should popup since it's gonna be it's second update.
As for my site backlinks, they always all showed. Links.xxx were showing and it's logic.
This page is relevant to my site... it's part of it.
