The main question is how do you guys do link exchanges from scratch. And now more in detail:

(every point is questionable! I want to ask about your experince.)

1) When page has just been created - it has no PR. so I guess I have to exchange links with PR0/1 sites? Had anyone have experience getting PR3-5 links with very fresh site?

2) Where do you usually put link partners: on main page, on some form of links.html list or categorized directory?

3) At some point you get to become PR2-3 for example. What to do with all those PR0/1 link partners? Leave them and add more higher PR sites? Or do you delete them?

4) What is your typical mailing-to-linkexchange ratio? Means - how much percent of your mail contacts do you get to exchange links with you. How much mailings do you do per day? Have you ever been accused of SPAM/UCE for sending linkexchange request?

Well, I guess that's it :) Will be glad to hear your opinions on statements & questions made.

1- Not everybody is worried about PR. I did put links from my PR5 link pages to PR0 sites. With time they should build PR anyway.

2- I made pages for my links. Sometimes I link from other pages but not much.

3- Well a link exchange is usually there to stay, unless you see it's manipulated, then you do what you have to do. Usually these pages PR should grow also, so you don't kick them off.

On (2) Do you mean like creating a page with content along with 1 link for each partner or creating link-only pages?

Pages made for links, have a ride on my site, you'll see. These are not really there to rank. I'd rather get visitors to a good page than a link page that send them away.

Took a visit. I see. What about this part?
How much emails per day do you send (or were sending in past)? And what what avg. mails-to-actual linkexchange ratio did you experience?

I did not reply to this question because I don't like to do stats on stuff that I don't really have fun doing. From spring till fall I just deal with the exchange emails I get... I refuse most of them. Unrelated, ugly site, hidden links...
