Hi all,

I 'think' I have tried everything for my main site and would love some help !

1: The URL of the website
http://www.teneric.co.uk

2: The keywords you are targeting (following places under google.co.uk - under .com I am about 140th)
business plan - 16th
business plans - 12th
business plan template - bobs between 1-3
sample business plan - same
write business plan - 3rd

I am looking to be first for these terms in google uk - I have had a look at the competition and believe this should be easily achievable but havent managed it yet

3: Any and all SEO that you have attempted

a) I have just changed the page so that business plan and business plans are 1st and second for KW density with prominence of 65%/87% each

b) content
header = write business plans
h1 = business plans
h2 x 3 has business plan
various links to other pages with business plan in link

c) Added business plan, business plan template, business plans as a direct link back to the home page with http://..

d) developed links with externals

e) added new external links on home page to sites that competitiors have

f) site is about 50 pages

what else can I do?

thanks
Peter

One suggestion - this is my first piece of advice.........so no doubt someone will tell me if I am wrong.

On this page http://www.teneric.co.uk/swot-course.html
<TITLE>SWOT Analysis - SWOT training programme</TITLE>
It could maybe say SWOT Analysis - for your business plan - SWOT Training Program

Also maybe get the keyword business plan in your h1 tag which says
Develop a targeted SWOT Analysis you could say
Develop a targeted SWOT Analysis for your business plan

I dont dare to say more!

Also get the main keywords into your description tag more..

Okay nightie night everyone

Thanks Irish for the look at the site.

On the SWOT page I was targeting "swot analysis" - before I had something Like you say and I could only be found for "swot analysis for business plans" !!!! So that's why I changed it. I have recently looked at density and promience and should see the results tomorrow.

All the work I have done so far has not moved me up at all for the home page for business plan/ plans - that's what Im after - seeing the competition in front of me (for google.co.uk) I should be able to jump them.

So am looking for that advice from seo-guy !!! (please)

Thanks again Irish (and pleased that you are moving up)

the biggest obstacle is see is the competition.
"business plan" has over 14 million results. [super competitive]
"write business plan" has over 4 million results. [still very competitive]

i think your site is well done...but...
a pr5 index page and pr4 and pr3 internal pages are gonna get it.
you have some good backlinks established...you just need more.
it will take more time to climb the very tall ladder that you have in front of you.

you need to get additional good relevant links with as high pr as possible.
get that link text working in those incoming links too.
mix it up a bit but make sure 'business plan' is in just about every incoming link.

you are on the right track.
just keep hammering at it.

is mpg an industry term?
if not...spell those words out in that page file name.

Thanks very much relax for having a look.

I am trying to get to the top for google.co.uk - yes it's very competitive but when I look at the number 1 they are a PR5 index with internals of 4 & 3 also. They have less incoming links as well. The others up there are in a similar position. That's why I thought there was something wrong with my onpage somewhere?

What do you think?

Thanks everyone

a pr5 can be a long way from these.
particularly if they are high pr6s and you are a low pr5.
[but lets not go into that]

i still say...just keep doing more of what you are doing.

I had a look at google.co.uk from the UK and get these PRs for business plan (no quotes)

interestingly they all have the word "business" or "plan" in their URL except the last one - could that be an issue ?

the keyword in the domain name [url] may help indirectly...but its not an overwhelming advantage.

Well that's a relief then!

So back to my original question, if PRs of 5/4/4 can come top for google UK what am I doing wrong?

I noticed that #1 had >130 links from a forum so I suppose that's going to help.

Other than that ?????

Thanks all, I am learning fast. If this doesnt work I may have to go like the others a get a professional in
