Domain Forwarding

Is there any benefit to registering new domain names and just domain forwarding them to a site I am trying to move up in the serps? Would like to know everyones thoughts.

This doesn't really help, but if you want to focus on different search terms and they are in the url, why not. Thing is, you don't want to have pages with no data or anything, or ad a lot of baggage to your site. I would stick to working on links on content and polishing up your site.
