Well - I bet I had your heart skipping a beat there for a second, but the truth is... What is it coming to for Google?

First of all - How in the world wide wed is Google going to keep returning relivent pages? There algo changes are not keeping SEO'ers stumped for nearly as long...

"In the beginning"

Google was not that difficult to rank well in.... You had to have all your seo in place and you were pretty much garanteed a good ranking. That lasted a Long Time - To the top we go.

Then came the DMOZ weight assignment... That kept the webmaster at bay for about a year or so until they all become DMOZ editors. Back to the top we go.

Then there was the introduction to PageRank which was there highest mountain to climb to win the SEO battle. But, People are selling links back and forth and now there actually making money on something that Google intended to use for itself..... They must be fuming in there own little way. How long will they let SEO'ers sell there PR? NOT VERY LONG... PR value is Almost gone.

I hear there already slowing the amount of times there programs assign PR levels since they know there being exploited.

The moral of my story is that there's just no way for them to continue to return there quality results without having a DMOZ like system in place. evertime they come out with a new algo - it's figured out.... and The newer it is , The sooner it's figured out.... What's the next algo? and how long will it last?

I predict some type of Google Directory Editor Program Soon.

What if they were just to give more clout to someone who has a listing in the dmoz directory, that way they know that at least one human has had a look at the site. I'm surprised they don't give more weight to this. But you make a good point clasione, what is next? Unless they hire people to go through sites.. like having a huge team of monkeys making minimum wage or something.

I bet it won't be long before Google comes up with a self categorizing directory, possibly eliminating human editors. Computers seem to replace humans everywhere else, why not there too?

If Google will buy Dmoz, What will happen to Editor worldwide. May be Google have to pay money to them because Dmoz will become to Commercial. It won't be Organization.

Dmoz is the best since its edited by humans. If it goes to computers it wont be the same, after all its just the machine.

Machines are controled by humans, but humans are never controled by machine. If Google goes for Computer editing its gonna lose out BIG TiME.

for sure, thats the whole point behind dmoz, it's that it's human edited and it gives diversity to webpage reviewing, better have a computer and a human look at a site than to have two different computers looking at the site.

The only thing is it takes forever to get listed on DMOZ. Google needs to write a program that can categorize the sites automatically and include it in the index instantaneously (then it would be a true representation of the web). Otherwise, google index is 1 to 2 months behind what's really on the web.
