Well, submitted my site about two weeks ago, and noticed the backlink from dmoz today. I went to the category and sure enough, we're listed! Very exciting, considering I've heard that this listing is very important to a sites success. Does everyone agree that a dmoz listing is very helpful?

wow thats pretty fast. You must have a very active editor for your category. I think dmoz is useful for a quality backlink. As far as traffic goes it has never done much for me.

I just submitted 11 of our client sites into dmoz.org about 6 days ago, and most of them are now listed as well. I think that's pretty normal.

I'm stunned! That's an amazingly fast listing Can either of you post the link to the sites you just got listed?

It really depends on the editor. I check my cats once a month, and if someone listed 6 days ago from then, well yes, its a quick listing. If a site was submitted just after my update, its a month wait. It can take ages to get listed epecially in very large categories.

That is the quickest reply I've ever heard of for DMOZ. I submitted over a year and half ago and I still am not listed. I have sent a few email to the editor and to their superior but no response. And you know how they say "please only email us once, etc". So annoying. I tried to apply to become an editor and got shot down. Oh well, at least we know that there are real people working there from your posting. What category was it in?

I know I will finally get in

You must know something that other don't :) Even as an editor I have sites I have submitted that are awaiting a review and even I don't know if they will get in (although the guidelines allow I have decide not to list my own sites or affiliated sites under any circumstances).

I have sent a quick PM to you sitetutor

I am also an editor at zeal. I wish I was one for DMoz because then maybe I could get my site in there before I am a grandpa.

Last I checked it looked like there was an editor for the category I would be most interested in.

Hey

Anyone know if a search bot called editors.dmoz.org exists ?? I found it on my webanalytics reports this morning.

If so does this mean I might make it into DMOZ or that they at least came by and had a good laugh??

Sounds more like it to me....

Basically editors.dmoz.org is the server that editors use and having it in the referer logas can mean any one of many things.

In this case an editor did pass by and performed a review and decided not to list the site.

I've had to change the site around to MAMBO instead of e107 for the CMS. The link above no longer works. Please use the following:
