I read from another forum that just one or two links from a Page Rank 7 Site would give you great leverage towards a PR5/6... So is there much point in having pages of links when half a page would do ? I've also seen someone people with non related high PR links doing very well; so is relevancy that Important ??

It always depends on how many links are on the page.
If there is two links only it will have much more PR transfer than if there is 30 links.
It changes a lot as you go up the PR scale too.
So is there much point in having pages of links when half a page would do ?
Having a high PR attracts links exchage. Exchanges of relevant links... So one may lead to the other...
If you have only one page with 50 links on it... do you think I'm tempted?
If you have many and one that is more themed for me and has fewer links... now am I tempted?

PR and ranks are 2 things. You may have high PR but get kicked by SEO-GUY with a PR2 page... PR is one components, relevance and optimisation is an other.

Yes pagerank has many benefits including more frequent and deeper indexing, and eventual help ranking but for the first few months PR does nothing for your search results these days even if your a PR 7, this is know as the Sandbox effect (You may have PR and links, but you have to wait for them to count for rankings)

I believe a trend is shifting back to a content is king situation these days, its always been the best long term strategy but even in the short term Im finding content in having a much large say in our collective destiny

Thank you guys so in essence, continue exchanging links with associated pages and improve on content; but if you can get high PR links go for it..
I was amazed at how many links SEO Guy had! When talking about deep indexing is this why in google when I search for links in my page I only get www.budget-tech.co.uk/ and not the other pages associated with my site. I was wondering if my linking structure was all to pot. It must take a while for all relevant backlinks to show up do you think 3 updates is enough to be competetive >? I think it does drive you insane with the waiting for the next update especially at PR4, it will be nice when I'm in more of a position not to be as bothered. As a rule of thumb, how long do you guys think is an acceptable time to have your backlink placed on your reciprocates site...

I like to see it within 7 days. I think this is acceptable, after all they only have to peek at your site, copy n paste your html.... I'm not sure about these people saying 1-3 months. I think they're just taking advantage ...
What rules does everyone else use?

I was like that until Florida.
Then I changed completely... I don't care anymore.
I do my thing and if G does not agree well... (censored).
But I don't make big money with my site... might be much harder if I did.

I just never want to pay for advertising again .... If I could get on the first 2 pages that would save me a lot of time instead of making calls all day to prosepective clients, arranging meetings etc.....But I guess thats what everyone wants I think there's around 1,250,000 results for most of my search terms thats alot of pages to beat.....

I think my highest result is page 20 (200) and my lowest around page 70 (700) so there's lots of work to do ....
