Hoping to get some feedback.
Web Postion seems to get their results wrong on a regular basis. There are two things I've noticed:
1) Shows no ranking for a something that does on Yahoo and AOL
2) Always shows a "+" in rankings and n/a for previous results when they defintely had a rank before and dropped, in essence providing a good report every time
I've gone back and forth with support and they claim there is nothing wrong, even if I send them before and after reports that show the disparties, mission files, etc. They always claim it has to do with where I have the previous results, which is ALWAYS in the same place.
Anyway, has anyone else encountered such a problem? And is there a comparable product out there that generates similar reports?
Thanks.

I've never used webpositiongold before, but what kind of tools are you looking for?
AOL uses Google's search results for their internal searches, so Digitalpoint's keyword tracking tool might work for you there as a patch in the meantime.
As for your Yahoo! tool, we have one on the SEO Guy site Yahoo rank tool (http://www.seo-guy.com/seo-tools/yahoo-pos.php). It doesn't have any tracking system built in, but it does provide reliable results.
Hopefully that helps

Steve,
I've never experienced any of the problems you've explained, and have used the product since version 1.0 for a few sites. I don't have any ideas about what might be causing your problem, but thought I'd let you know it can work.

Just something that shows keywords/rank that you can send to clients. I'm hoping there is a good alternative to WPG that other SEO's have used.

We typically use digitalpoint's keyword ranking tool keyword ranking tool (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keyword) as our clients are primarily interested in their Google rankings and use Yahoo rankings as a secondary reporting scheme.
Given that AOL's search results are identical to Google's, I'd still suggest his tool.
Like i said earlier, i have no experience with WPG - just the tools that we use.

We dont use WPG or endorse their product in any way. WPG sends out thousands of non sanctioned automated queries to the SE's eating huge resources, the SE's obviously are not a fan of this and I for one dont like having to change my IP cause an SE is mad at me.
Read Googles TOS, they specifically state taht WPG is NOT allowed.
Its pretty easy to program a screen scrape tool for yahoo and MSN like the one I did in the tools section to cover more then the first 100 results and really other then Google Yahoo and MSN are all you should really be reporting.

Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.
