Has anyone used StatCounter? I am looking for a good free web traffic analysis tool.

Thanks.

Check out hitbox by webside story http://websidestory.com/
They're tracking software is pretty good. It's clientside so you get accurate results of human-only traffic vs server side tracking which basically just compiles your web logs (but this isn't accurate because it counts spiders and bots as visitors)

Statcounter is a very good in my opinion, what i find good about it is that new features are continuously being added. Best bet is to give it a whirl and see for yourself.

thi sworks ok for logging hits but the "came from" is jacked, My cheezy nuke script logs tons of refferrers and statcounter shows like 3 referrers, so somthing has to be up with that.

Hello,

New member here. Been reading the posts here for a while and picking up good tips. Just thought I'd make a quick comment. I've been using their service for a week or so also, and find the features very usefull. One thing that bugs me though is the link back to their home page which they've embedded in the code. So if you install it on every one of your pages, it's like you just gave them a site-wide link. (Explains their PR9 (use to be 10). It's an invisible link but it's fully crawlable by the engines and even shows up clickable for the second or so when a page is loading. Pretty sneaky IMO. They say it's all free and keep hyping it, but for a person with a PR7 site with dozens of PR6 internal pages.. a site-wide link is not free.
