Morgan, I agree with you. Many Search Engine Optimization Firms announce that they can bring your website to top 10, top 5 with guaranteed refund money. But I don't know what will happen in the next month after the website has listed in top of search engine. Do you know about their guaranteed? Do they guarantee the keyword which are high competitive like discount hotels, hotel reservations, new york hotels or not? I think the ranking in Google , they always change everytime. How do the seo firm works on the ranking report?

One thing that i've always wondered is, what happens if you get your "guaranteed" rankings and then end your SEO contract with them? I'm sure that 90% of the time you'd mysteriously drop those top rankings again. It seems to me that if a company says something that sounds too good to be true, it most likely is.

And do they let you choose what the guaranteed keywords are? I'd love to call up one of those companies and tell them that i want "online casino" as my guaranteed top 10 placement. What would they say?

But as for how could you deliver it? well, i suppose i could make myself number 1 in anything with CPC :) - would cost a lot though.

Top rankings are easy... just buy some top positions with "bad" PPC's. It doesn't cost nearly as much as the good ones, will get a lot of fraudenlent traffic and really "piss off" your paying clients. Ya, that sounds like a winning idea to me...

At best, an SEO can guarantee service on a "best efforts basis". Take a look at the clients site, see where they are today and guarantee that things will improve over time. If you can't provide a benefit to the client you shouldn't really take the job in my opinion. I've read time and time again that people should avoid SEO's who specifically guarantee any position.

If the client hasn't done enough research to know that top positions can never be guaranteed then they are probably more trouble than what they are worth.

If a client has done the research and still want a guarantee like this then they are probably looking to take advantage of a ridiculous claim and again are not worth the trouble.

My 2.346 cents worth...
