I've had this idea rolling around in my head for some time. I run a video game cheat code site, and up until now I've only listed about 20,000 games or so since I don't too many games in one place.
However, the DB I am using (mysql db) has in it 55,000 titles. About 95% of these have some sort of data with them, whether it be box covers or manufacturer data and release dates. About 10% of them have cheat codes and hints as well. I haven't put all 55,000 games into my cheat code site, at http://www.cheatbot.com/ , yet, but I was wanting to make a site that utilized all game titles, and as a test to see if I could make the pages as simple as possible and as search engine friendly as possible.
Rather than risk my current site which is already listed in Google, I've decided to make a new site, and just get some backlinks in order to increase its google pagerank and in order to be indexed with Google.
Now, this is similar to the whole doorway page notion, however, all 60,000 pages that are in this new site have specific content with each page, and is actually part of the website in question. To see an example of what I'm doing, just go to:
http://www.vgindex.com/
It's most certainly not finished yet, however it's very close to completion, and I think I might open it up for business in a day or two, if not less.
You can see that the site is entirely in CSS, and it is done such that all the content is as close to the top of the page as possible. However, it's all a real site, with real content.
Any suggestions, comments, etc, as to whether or not you think this will work?
