View Full Version : Site Doomed By Old Link Farm Dalliance?

Back in my callow, SEO ignorant days, I had a fling with a Link Farm, desperate I was to get hits. I didn't know at the time that Google takes a dim view on such things.

Not much happened for about 4 months. 3 weeks after signing up (it was free) and posting their 9 pages of links, in exchange to have my site featured, I dropped out and removed the pages after reading that link farms were not the way to go.

Imagine my suprise about 2 weeks ago, when all of a sudden in Alexa, I have over 700 back links from sites all over the world, most with a PR=0, totally off topic, and most with the same www.whatevertheirdomainis.com/shopping6/html page title.

My Yahoo SERPS have improved, my google traffic seems soft (might be time of year for scooters).

There is no way I can get rid of these back links since they are HTML uploads to each of these sites. Even if they drop out, if they dont take down the pages, they will link me forever more.

I am slooowly building up better quality backlinks, but my question is, have I toasted www.gas-scooters-on-the-web.com with all these backlinks?

Is there any hope that some of these sites will improve in PR and distribute it to the page where the back link is, and I will get some benefit?

And finally, do these links actually hurt SERPS or do they just not help?

Thanks,

Harvey
