Is it me, or the whole thing of optimization and b/l simply does not make any different for the last few months?

Are you talking about the toolbar? Because that hasn't been updated in forever. Actual search results are updated often.

well, for my site things r static for quite a while...

Not at all. Yesterday one of my sites bumped from #9 to #2 for its main term. And another site about 7 months old just went from number 100 or so to #2 for one of its terms.

Yeah, seems like SERPs get updated constantly now.

For my case, G last visited me last week. Gbot is quite inactive nowadays I noticed. Some says the next update will be around Jan 05. Is up to everyone's guess right now. Maybe is a present for new year? :p Backlinks will also be updated around that time right before a PR update.
