Hi

I have a website with a PR of 5.

I am looking to improve PR.

My links page was built using zeus a few years ago and I have about 100 categories and about 6000 outgoing links.
We have not had an active link campaign for a while.

Problem is, we only have about 120 backlinks,
and only about 10 or so are PR 4 and above.

My Question: do these 6000 outgoing links hurt me in anyway?

I don't want to use zeus anymore...
Do I have to manually go through all of them to get the links to my link partners
and create a new links page?
OR
Can I just keep the zeus database and start on another links page to save
LOADS of time?

any advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you

My 2p, I'd check to see which of those 6k were reciprocating and drop all the others. I'd also suggest starting over with a clean db.

You could use the existing page titles for your new links once the deadbeats were dropped you'd have lots of room on cached pages with PR for those that it matters to.

Did you enter a reciprocating page when the links were first added? If so there's a ton of free PHP and ASP scripts that will check for your link on specific pages. There are also a couple available on-line.

If I'm not mistaken SEO Kid posted some source code to that effect either here or on anotherc SEO Guy forum.

Hi mphuneko,

Have you made any decision on which tool you would like to use in the future to manage links.

If not then I would take a look at Arelis. It also allows you to import all your links from an import facility.

There are four import option, one of which is ZEUS !!! Meaning you could probably import all 6,000 in one go.

I am a big fan of Arelis, you can get a free trial version as well. I can't comment on the ZEUS import facility as I have not tried it.

Check out my directory, link is in signature below. I built it about a week ago using Arelis and have now started adding sites. Sites with a gold star are sites that link back. Arelis is also great at managing the link status of each site. So I know which emails have been sent to each.

Arelis kicks ass, lots of my staff use it. Check out my Shameless Areliz Plug (http://www.seo-guy.com/axandra/arelis-link-popularity-tool.html)
