But it turns out out I know very, very little!

Hello

We are just about to do a major redevelopment of a site we own and manage. By redevelopment I mean we'll be redesigning the entire site, implementing a range of strategies to continue to provide great content and have a very, very strong focus on SEO.

The site has been going for 2 years. It's Google PR has been 6 and the site has listed as high as # 11 for the search term 'eczema' (which is one of the major ones we've targeted).

Before I start the redevelopment I'd like to figure out why the site has dropped to a PR of 4 and dropped completely out of site on Google. Once I can establish that I'll start the redevelopment with a bit of confidence.

It ranks okay on Yahoo (# 5 for eczema).

The site is www.eczemasite.com (yes, I know it's ugly!)

The only other information that may be relevant (and I'm not sure because I'm no SEO expert) is these bits:

1. We also have a site also at www.eczemasite.com.au. This replicates a lot of content from the .com site. This site will be removed when we do the redevelopment.

2. Some (but not many) sites that link to eczemasite.com are with the same host as the eczemasite.com host.

3. We have not implemented a decent linking campaign as yet.

4. We have targeted a range of keywords - the site has hundreds of quality eczema articles and we optimise each page for one keyword/phrase only.

As an example of how I would optimise a page: http://www.eczemasite.com/nail-psoriasis.htm (optimised for 'nail psoriasis')

(Please note: I've been slack for a while and some pages aren't optimised as well as I think that one is. And I've just re-optimised according to some things I picked up here.)

5. Have submitted the site to DMOZ (1 - 11/2 ago) and its never been listed. But the eczemasite.com.au is with DMOZ.

Then again, the site still achieved a decent ranking despite/because of the above. My main issue is why it has dropped from Google.

Appreciate any input.
