Hey y'all! I have a question. I checked my place in google on Monday and it was on page 4 (I had moved up to there from oblivion the week before.) On wednesday I check and I had moved up to page 2 (after alot of work on it the week before). However I just checked again today and it is back on page 4 and the cached image is the one from the week before. Why is this happening? Any suggestions?

It's most likely just that you are on a different data center. Page placement can move around quite a bit, have a look again soon and you'll most likely be back where you were. Good luck with the site!

An other thing that happens when you modify a page is that your cache and actual content are different.
When Gbot passes by, it seems to put the page back to cache values ranking.
When it's recalculated the ranking goes back to actual and you get a fresh date in serps.
Google sometimes goes back to older cache when an update is going on... just like your page but the whole index.
Until your page has cached = actual it will jump big time like this.

Well as of last night and this morning my site is now on the first page and in the no. 2 spot. Pretty cool. I hope it stays there. THanks guys!

Well some of my keywords have disappeared, so it'd better not last. They only recently got into the SERPs (came straight in to #50-100) so I'm thinking that for me it's just flickering old results and there will be some settling back soon.
Well done on marking your territory - don't move anywhere, I'll be there soon! (I hope)

Hi all
Newbie question. What is the SERP's?
Are they what is reported here? http://www.mcdar.net/dance/index.php
I am sure I am familiar with it just maybe by a different name.
If not I don't want to miss out.
Thanks for being patient with a newbie.

Serp's = Search Engine Results Pages - just the regular pages returned by a search on google for example :D
