Poison Words

A long time ago I read that pages with "Poison Words" such as Resources, Directories, Forum, etc. in the Title, Description, or Keywords were somewhat "filtered" or "penalized" by the Search Engines. Is that still the case?

If so, does this only apply to "Poison Words" in Title, Description, and Keywords? What about "Anchor Text?" Does the penalty go to the page or the whole domain? Is there a current list of "Poison Words?"

Can anyone expand on this?

I don't think I would include directoires or forums in that list, dmoz for example has good rankings everywhere.

What some people believe is that if your link is located on a "links" page there may be some kind of discount. Directories are a good way to get themed one-way links.
