i run the site Victory Investments - Investment Newsletter (http://www.vprp.com) and i have done several things for SEO. first, i have implemented H1, H2 and H3 tags. the line at the top is an H1 tag but i don't really know how to implement H2 and H3 tags. have i implemented them correctly?

also, i made a text navigation bar for the links on my site. then i have a site map. i have heard all of these help with Google SEO.

i know Google doesn't use meta tags but i have included these because other search engines such as Yahoo! might take them into consideration.

last, my title is Victory Investments - Investment Newsletter - Stock Newsletter.

right now, i just want to optimize for the keyword "investment newsletter" but after i gain first page placement for that keyword, i'd like to optimize for "stock newsletter" too.

is there anything i can do to improve my site design for SEO? i know that huge graphic on the right might not be the best idea but i have to have something that entices visitors to actually subscribe once they find my site. also, is there a way i can optimize for "investment newsletter" and "stock newsletter" at the same time or is it better for me to just focus on one keyword at a time?

thanks in advance!

Couple of quick observations:

1) Title - If you want to optimize for "Investment Newsletter" & "Stock Newsletter" then get those terms closer to the beginning of the title and put your name last. Maybe try something like:

- Investment Newsletter - Leading Stock Newsletter from Victory Investments

2) Move your javascript to an external .js file if possible.

3) The keyword meta tag isnt going to hurt or help you in Google, but may provide a small benefit in Yahoo

4) Use H2 tags to emphasize your secondary keyword "stock newsletter" Think about how you would write a normal offline page, and use your heading tags accordinly to group content in a logical pattern.

5) You should try and get you content higher up on the page. Again, an external .js file for javascript will help, plus you could use the "table trick" to change your table layout structure and get your main content placed above the left side navigation etc. Do a search for "table trick" and you will see how to do it ;)

6) Alt Tags - Use alt tags for your images that contain your main keywords

7) Get some backlinks to your site that use your keywords in the anchor text. I'm showing 0 backlinks in Google and only 8 for Yahoo. This is a huge factor. Check the top listing for your search terms and see how many links they have and you will get an idea of how many you may need. How important is this? I've seen a site rank #2 for the competitive term "gambling" and it was a pharmacy site! But, it had over 30,000 keyword rich links. Enough said on that.

8) Be sure to "sprinkle" instances of your keywords throughout the page and repeat them near the bottom too. Bold or italicize them once or twice as well. Don't overdue it.

That's all for now. Good Luck!
