Hi All,

I am completely new to SEO and would like some general basic advice from you nice people :D

1) Some companies promise to have your site listed within 7 days on Yahoo, Google, etc. How do they do this? Is it something to do with paid adverts to speed up the submission process?

2) In the newbie tutorial it is said that it is good to concentrate on, say, 3 keywords and then put your next 3 on a seperate url relevant to the words. Does this mean to literally use 3 keywords?? If not, how many is recommended?

3) When calculating keyword density in a pages body, am i ok to have seperate parts of a keyphrase counting towards the density, or deos it have to be the EXACT phrase?

E.G, My keyphrase of 'Buy Cheap DVDs'..

Would the words 'Buy' Cheap' and DVDs still work towards the density even though they are not together in a sentance?

Thank you for your kind help,

Alfie

Welcome to the forum Alfie

1- I would look carefully at what they say. Maybe it's paid inclusion adwords...

2- You do not have to aim a 3 keyphrases. You may just try for one if you like. It's more that you should not aim at 6 keyphrase for a page, but 3 or less is fine.

3- Since the florida update, density has lost it's power... I don't monitor density anymore, I just make a text that sounds good making sure my phrases are present.

The exact phrase is always better that the separate words.

Thank you for your swift reply and your welcome.

1) Is there any evidence that paying for, say, Adwords, will speed up submission time to the main engines?

2) If I use 3 keywords to aim at per page, does this mean that i should use JUST these 3 keywords, or just concentrate on them?

3) Does density still have its power in titles, description, links and alts?

4) But the seperate words DO count?

Thanks again,

Alfie

1- They are separate and adwords will not influence the natural serps. Links will get you indexed, not adwords.

2- You concentrate on these, you make them stick out more by putting them in the title, H1...

3- The title should be short and have the keys in them. Don't forget that visitors read the title before clicking on the listing... if it looks spammy or sounds stupid, they will click the one with a better title. Alts basically do nothing.

4- Yes they do, if the page has all the words, it could rank, but an exact phrases will usually do better.

Take it from someone like me who has been a victims of these companies scams, never ever pay them to list your site, if you really have extra dough lying around I would advice purchase adwords.
