Hello. I just registered and would have read many of the posts and think they are very informative. I have two websites, www.shopforbags.com and www.katydidcollection.com and was wondering if anyone could help me out in increasing sales (by better SEO, obviously). Any advice is greatly appreciated. Any recommendations on getting guaranteed placement companies that WORK and are not spammers is also appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi Shopforbags, welcome to the forum. I think the best thing to do right now is post your top few keywords like hand bags and such as well as anything that you've attempted to do for seo on your site. Looks like you have some serious competition with handbags, 15.9 million pages but with some hard work you should do well.

what do you mean by affiliate sites? is there a software designed for this, or example of a site?
How often should a site re-submit to search engines?
Thanks!

You shouldn't need to submit at all. If you have sites linking to you that are indexed, then the spider's going to find your site naturally. If you put the links to your 2 sites in your signature here, even that would be enough to get you spidered.

Stay away from Guaranteed placement companies, noone can guarantee you top placement in any search engine unless they use pay per click which you can do yourself. Anyone who guarantee you placement is lying and so not worth doing business with.
As for your site, you have nasty URL strings which will interfere with the spidering of your site example http://www.shopforbags.com/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=11 I suggest implementing a mod_rewrite to get the query strings out while its still an infant site.
Also you will want to actually write something for your site, there is not a lot for the SE's to work with right now, try an intro and and exit paragraph for any pages your looking to have rank above and below the product areas, that will help and make sure your page titles match the theme of the page.
An example http://www.shopforbags.com/index.php?cPath=21 the Title of this page is currently "Shop for Bags" it should be handbags, also under your H2 tag or whatever that heading is you could have a paragraph somethign to the effect of " Shop for bags sells only premium quality handbagsplease look through our handbag selection and find the right handbag for you!"
That sort of thing, give the SE something to glom onto as far as what the page is about, your worst error right now though is your titles, they should be individual from page to page
