Related links?

I've been kind of confused about something for awhile. Lots of people say that you want to exchange links with sites that are related to your own site. I sell portable sound systems. It isn't a very big market so there aren't lots of people to trade links with. And actually usaully the sites that relate the most to me are competitors so they absolutely don't want to trade links.

My thought is I should look to trade links with sites that my customers would be on. My customers are coaches, police officers, firemen, band directors, missionaries, and office professionals. But it doesn't seem that these sites are related to mine. Does anyone understand what I'm trying to say? I guess what I'm saying is, what sites are related to my site?

Relevant in your case would probably be anything audio-stereos, car stereos, amps, recording equipment, etc. It doesn't have to be a super tight niche, but the closer the better.
