Ok, so from what i am reading, after you get your site to the number one spot, you want and have to maintain it there. how is this done? I have seen a post on another board talking about trying to make 1 page of content a day and adding it to your site.??
is that true?

I wouldn't argue with that. The more content you can add, the better.

No matter what though, once you get to the top, you're going to see fluctuations in your rankings. I've seen pages that were number 1 drop off the map completely for a couple days and then come right back to number 1 again afterwards like nothing ever happened. The important part is to think of your site as a whole, and not tear the entire thing apart just because one keyword crashed.

Adding content as often as you can is very important.

Don't forget to keep hunting for those links as well. Try and find sites that rank well in the search engines that will offer a straight text link (if possible), they should be on topic as well so try to make sure that they are in a relevant market to yours. Page rank is nice but not always essential

Links are the foundation of the web and Google and Yahoo have taken the same view and made it part of the foundation of their algo. My philosophy has always been that a link building campaign should continue for as long as the site is online, that way it will increase the amount of traffic you get and also it will open more avenues for spiders to find your site and crawl your site.

Thanks Creative,

I'm ashamed to call myself SEO Bob now. How could I possibly forget about the importance of linking. You said it perfectly there - I'm just going to hang my head in shame for a couple minutes now.
