Hi, I am really new to SEO and have heard alot of people talking about being able to get spidered within 48-72 hrs. Is this possible? If so with what methods/engines?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, if you have a link on a PR5 page the page linked will get crawled the same day and usually will show in the index 2-3 days after for google. The other SE may take a bit longer.

You get links on sites that have a good PR, in a bunch of directories... have a ride on the acronyms thread in this section, there are good threads and many things will become clear, then you'll understand how thing goes.

Just last week, I got a new site spidered in 12 hours on MSN, and 24 hours on Google. All I did was change my sig file in this forum, plus a couple others. Yahoo is a different story, lol.

Well as you can see I have given THAT a try, hope it works! Any other suggestions?

I remember waiting about 3 weeks for my first site to get spidered as I was learning about SEO... my last two launches were indexed in 48 hours. :)
I think the signature here will do alot of good- although I'm still agonizingly waiting for these dog articles to get in the index. :P Also if you have a friend you can convince to link to you for a few days till you start getting link exchange links and directory links.
For me when if tomes to links to get a new page spidered fast I look more at if/when the freshdate was last done. (find the freshdate by locating the page in the SERPS, and then seeing if there is a date showing the day it was last cached)

As was mentioned earlier, submitting to directories is probably the easiest way to get indexed initially. Once your site is indexed by the SE's, you may find it easier to get recip. links.

seonoob2005,
You can start by putting your link in my directory (see sig). It's small but get's hit by the spiders everyday.
I put one of my own sites in there and I was indexed in less than 24hrs. This has nothing to do with the directory per se. I just got it in in time before Google made it's rounds.
The directory is small enough now that your link won't get buried amoung a thousand others on a page.
