Hi there

I am daily on the seo side of this forum but was not aware of this section. I am very interested in learning PHP. Could you guys give some resources to check up and start learning from. The most basic and straight forward resource is what Im looking for.

Thanx

There are a few places:

PHP dot net - the classic (http://www.php.net/)

PHP resource index (http://php.resourceindex.com/)

PHP Builder - excellent (http://www.phpbuilder.com/)

PHP is a good choice of lingo - well it's not recognised as a programming language like java, C or perl, but it's mighty useful and have lots of nice functions, plus it's easy to learn. Enjoy!

I suggest a good book. "PHP 4 A Biginner's Guide" from Osborne.

The easiest and fastest tutorial I found was at www.scriptschool.com. Got me up and running in no time on PHP and MySQL.

Quick warning, the site mentioned promote itself a lot among the adult webmasters, therefore you will see some adult sponsor banners on the site. It is very minor. However, if you take offence to this type of advertising I would sujest you avoid entering.

Download the manuel at php.net. That's all you'll really ever need.

Dont forget to have a spare 2-3 ink cartridges when printing :)

Who said anything about printing? It's better just to copy and paste the examples to see how they work. The learning curve for php is extremely easy.

Heh - l234244 - a box of ink cartridges and a couple of trees killed for paper. How very un-green of you to suggest we should print out that manual :)

I'm sorry for suggesting but I guess not everyone is like me. To understand stuff I need to have a hard copy - I get eye strain staring at the screen too much, lol. You should see how much uni work I have, hard copies of everything I have learnt (or forgot).
