Hello everyone!
Over the weekend, I had some thoughts and would like any information on the following...
1) Does the amount of hits a website gets improve its SEO position?
2) What about click throughs from other websites? I know the link itself improves the SEO position, but does usage of the link help?
3) If you have more than one link on a site (say one direct link and then some anchor text links), will this improve your SEO position? For example, I have two websites...if I have several reciprocal links between the two, does this improve position?
Just looking for ways to bring my new site out of oblivion...Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

1-2 ) Clicks on a link does not change a thing. It would have to be monitored and sent to the host. Alexa does this but it does not change a thing in SERPS.
3 ) Backlinks are always good. Just dont push the crosslinking too much.

Thanks.
could you describe the difference between crosslinking and backlinks?
Also, could you describe in layman's terms why having our links on other sites can improve our position.
Thanks,
Katland

Two sites that promote the other with a handfull of links is just an exchange.
Two sites that has a link to the other from all pages would be crosslinking.

Is Backlinking related to the exchange of links? Since you said backlinking is good, this is what I would like to try.
thanks,
Katland

A backlink is a link on a page website that points to one of your pages.
If you exchange a link with a site, the link he puts on his page is a backlink.
So you get a backlink for every link you get.

OK, Great...that is what I am trying to do, get more backlinks. Are there sites that offer link exchanges? Are these good to use?
Also, you say how many hits our website gets from Searches on the engines doesn't improve our optimization, right? Is this true of all the engines?
You have been great today! Thanks for your help!

1- If the link is a text link and has a PR then yes, even PR1 counts.
2- Alexa counts the clicks with their toolbar, no toolbar no clicks counted, so it's not too acurate. Don't worry about it.
