How the blogs will help our site in terms of traffic or SEO.
This may be a basic question. Iam a new comer in SEO field.

people just use them for backlinks and higher rankings in the serps. it's like how people used to sign guestbooks a while back. just don't blog just to post your link. participate and provide something useful.

Blogs give you another way of appearing quickly in the SERPs for Yahoo and MSN. Google is still a slug when it comes to granting the almighty exit from it's "sandbox"

A blog is no magic pill for scoring high in the SERP's. However, I do have a blog, and it has provided valuable skills as far as SEO. I have been able to index new domains with my blog, for starters.
