You guys are a smart bunch, so I thought I'd ask this question here:
I have 250 pages that I want to use the same Flash graphic, but I'd like to use them to link to 250 other different pages.
So basically I don't want to make 250 simalar flash movies with the link in them. I'd like to link them once they're already on the html page.
Can Frontpage or Dreamweaver use the flash movie as a "picture" and link it to something as you would an image (<a href=, alt=...)?
Thanks,
Safari Guy

I'm not that familiar with flash but I believe it can have "on page" parameters and that parameter could be the destination I guess. Therefore the same image could point to the other pages at will, and that destination page could be generated by PHP...

No.
You will have to link in the movie...but if you get really creative you could probably set the link up as a variable that comes from the page somehow. Then each page would use the same swf but link to somewhere different.

Thanks for the answers. It's certainly strange that you can't even put a hot spot over flash. I even tried putting a layer over the flash animation with a transparent gif over it, but the flash somehow kills even that.
Well, my solution was just to decrease the length of the animation and make a less quality animated gif.
If anyone ever figures out how to link a flash file, using on page parameters, I'm interested.
Thanks,
Safari Guy

Hi,
It's quite easy. U have to edit the source Flash file (.fla). Create a button (or something else) that link to the file you want then export the movie into .swf. After that you can insert the swf file into Dreamweaver or Frontpage. The you see how it works. Briefly I mean you have to make it from your FLA file. Good luck.

Besides the obvious, passing flash a variable i.e. script.php?variable=x, you can also use Ming to generate flash on the fly. You can find out if your host has it installed by putting phpinfo(); in a script and running it.

U have to use Flash to create the button. No need transparent or hotspot, then U insert it into DW or FP then it works. (In Flash, make a button with your desired appreance then press F8 > button, assign some action script ). I mean U have to know alittle bit about Flash.
